The goats are milked twice a day, everyday.
Milking times are 6 am and 5 pm.

The milking parlor is an efficient and animal friendly
room, with lots of natural light and air flow.

Each goat produces about
1 gallon of milk per day.
Milk production is a truly amazing process, with
the complex setup of secretory cells,
blood vessels, ducts and muscles.
400 gallons of blood flows through a
goat’s udder to produce 1 gallon of milk.

WOW!!! These critters are amazing!

The milk is piped directly through a filter,
chilled to 38 degrees F. and stored or used
that day for cheese making.
Cheese is made strictly from our goats milk.
Come visit Crystal Brook Farm to meet the goats.
You are welcome to come anytime on your own or plan a tour.

  • Thanksgiving Amongst us

The fall leaves have mostly fallen, and we are preparing for the colder days ahead. While we have a day set aside for Thanks Giving, I think its best to give thanks throughout every day. After setting a new fence for the goats this morning, a Marsh Hawk.. aka Northern Harrier.. glided over the field. What a sight! Brilliant white rump patch, banded tail, rufous breast and powerful wings. This agile raptor amazed me with its smooth, definite flight, searching amongst the field brush and cattails =looking for prey. Smaller birds hastily flew out of its way, which is what really drew my eye to the sky. I watched in awe and wonder. and said a word of Thanks. Gratitude is a powerful energy. Let us realize more graciousness in our lives. Be Full of Thanks. Self guided farm tours are free and open during daylight hours, Wed. - Sun. Guided tours are available by appointment only. See Dooryard/Tours section. Ann's recently released, "The Dairy Goat Handbook" is available at our On-Farm Store (autographed copies!!), and online outlets like Amazon.
